Anne lives in a fishing village off the coast of Norway.
EVERY SUMMER she works in a processing plant cutting, washing and packing the fish the men in her family haul ashore in their boats after long voyages in the North Atlantic. It is a way of life that has remained the same for many generations.
When Anne met Petter Hegre, it didn’t take a lot of persuading for her to take her clothes off – they speak the same language, after all. It was not because she wants to go to Milan or Paris and pursue a career as a top model, but for one reason and one reason only: because it was fun. Anne doesn’t want to leave her windy community on the edge of the sea. She would rather be the prettiest mermaid in her Norwegian village than a little minnow swimming in the swirling waters of the fashion industry.
It seems a pity, really, but Anne is just 19 and has plenty of time to change her mind.
